My interest in Foral Designs began In Hawaii, while exiting the plane to our hotel an employer gave us flowers and a booklet of ideas in simple florals. Within moments of stepping off the plane the smells of fresh flowers hit my nose and my mind thought; "Let's make assorted floral-gifts-to-go". I photographed flowers for future projects filling my camera ideas. At the New York School of Design I will continue to learn, to create in color, texture and explore opportunities.

I'd LOVE to study the floral course because I've been tinkering with the idea of adding floral design into my retail clothing store to turn it into a concept store and give me a competitive edge. I took a floral class in college and have taught friends the tips I learned there, but I need a better foundation. Flowers have been life long passion of mine-I remember coming home from my grandmas and making so many arrangements that my mom said our house looked like a funeral home!

I work with events (certificate) in event planning, assistant to photographer and non-profits. Doing floral design for small events, friends' weddings and sharing my garden flowers with my visits to friends expresses how flowers are with me everyday. This opportunity built a strong confidence and get to the next level and perhaps complete a dream to have my own business, getting paid to design memories. Having professionals critique would be worth a new experience learning about floral design.

I encourage clients to always add real flowers to their space....and how amazing would it be it I were to offer that service of custom petals too. I look forward to learning more about this design detail........good luck to all contest participants! Cheers, Jacqueline Curtis Rampant Red Design

The beauty of flowers arranged very well is understated. As a practicing artist like me, I am always in awe whenever I see really exquisite arrangements anywhere- on special occasions like weddings, simple boquet arrangement at home or even the marvelous blooms of multicolored bougainvillea in the park. Flowers bring out an unexplainable warmth whenever I see or receive them, that's why I am eager to grab this chance in order to study for free and learn more about floral design.

I love playing with Floral design and have done Floral arrangements for my church and friends for many years but since I was a single Mom it was not in the budget to go to school for this hobby of mine. I saw this contest and knew that it was my chance to learn from the professionals so I could start my own business and finally carry out my life long dream of designing art with flowers. My fingers are crossed!!... Smiles
